Prof. Dr. B H Nazma Yasmeen is Professor & Head of the Department of General Paediatrics and Paediatric Respiratory Medicine (Pulmonology) at the Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute, where she also previously served as Director (in charge). She was formerly Professor & Head of Paediatrics at Northern International Medical College (NIMC), Dhaka.
She completed her MBBS from Sher-e-Bangla Medical College in 1985, followed by the MCPS in Paediatrics from the Bangladesh College of Physicians & Surgeons and the MD in Paediatrics from the Bangladesh Institute of Child Health under the University of Dhaka. In 2021 she was awarded the FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Her clinical career spans more than three decades, including 12 years at Dhaka Shishu (Children) Hospital, the largest children's hospital in South-East Asia, and around three years as Consultant at the OGSB Maternity Hospital & Institute of Reproductive and Child Health, Mirpur, Dhaka.
With more than 110+ research publications in national and international medical journals, she has a particular focus on neonatology, newborn care, and paediatric respiratory medicine. She edited the WHO and Bangladesh Neonatal Forum guide Essential Newborn Care - A Guide for Practice (2008) and served for many years as Editor of the Northern International Medical College Journal.
